I had a chance to hear Derick Sebastian for the first time in Los Angeles during the SLS International Voice Camp. I was absolutely blown away by his amazing musicianship, great stage presence and fun and genuine personality. I know Derick has a great future ahead of him in the music business. Dean Kaelin

CD SONG INSIGHTS

1.Eddie Bush Tribute

play track 1

Each time I hear or perform this song, it moves me in so many different ways. I wrote this in memory of a very special friend of mine, Mr. Eddie Bush. Eddie was one of the first established ukulele players from Hawaii to make a profound impact on the international scene. I looked up to him not only as a great music mentor, but also as a valued father figure and irreplaceable friend whom I greatly respected and admired. I will never forget his favorite saying to me, "The best is yet to come." With this, I have learned to never be satisfied in my work and to always strive for that ultimate perfection. Although this song does not contain any lyrics, it nevertheless tells the story of an incredible human being and magical musician. This song is a long lasting tribute to the late Eddie Bush, "The Ukulele Extraordinaire."

2.Distant Invisible

play track 2

The term "mind over matter" can pertain to many different situations in life. With this song, it speaks of a young man’s crush on a special girl. Although he desperately tries to forget her and move on, she continues to haunt his every dream. Sadly, the girl does not know that this sentiment ever existed.

3.Dreaming

play track 3

This song is represented by those who have experienced love at first sight. It does not happen often, nor does it happen to everyone, but those fortunate enough to have found it hold on to this feeling forever.

4.You Can Make it Through

play track 4

This song is about perseverance and about not giving up. It is about facing the trials and tribulations of life, and about how to overcome. The moral of the song is this, "It doesn’t matter what happens to you, what matters is what you do about it."

5.Imperfect World

play track 5

This song tells of a world that is full of pain, broken dreams, discouragement and hopeless surrender. There are people moving too fast, falling short of goals, and giving up on life. However, while it speaks of the imperfect world that we live in, it also emphasizes the immense possibilities and of looking to the brighter side of life. The world will constantly test our faith and commitment, but in doing so it simply strengthens our conviction on life. We as people must not give up and should make the best of everything because tomorrow is a promise to nobody. After all, who said that life was easy in this Imperfect World?

6.Skip To My Uke

play track 6

After graduating from high school in late 2000, I moved to Los Angeles, California to attend an audio engineering school. It was a culture shock to say the least, but I soon fell in love with the city, its people and especially the music. During my leisure times in LA, I immersed myself in the sounds of Jazz and Swing. This song is the result of those awe inspiring rhythms.
